Bee Ecological is a Seychelles-based environmental consulting firm that combines scientific, regulatory and field expertise to solve complex environmental challenges in island and coastal settings.

About Bee Ecological

Established in 2020, Bee Ecological Consulting specialises in environmental and social safeguards for sustainable development in island and coastal contexts. Our work combines field ecology, geospatial analysis and stakeholder engagement to produce outputs that inform policy and management.

We deliver national-scale assessments, monitoring frameworks and management plans for government agencies, conservation trusts, international donors and the private sector. Recent assignments include national monitoring protocols, a national coral reef status report, protected-area management plans and biodiversity assessments for environmental impact assessments.

Gilberte Gendron

Marine Biologist and Environmental Consultant

MSc Oceanography, Université du Québec à Rimouski

Gilberte has 20 years’ experience in biodiversity conservation in Seychelles, starting in 2006 with the Conservation Unit and later serving as Principal Coordinator at the Seychelles National Parks Authority. She has led ecological baseline surveys, coral reef monitoring programmes and management plans for marine protected areas, and has served on the technical working group of the Seychelles Marine Spatial Plan since 2014. She is a core member of the Island Biodiversity and Conservation Centre (University of Seychelles) and co-author of more than a dozen scientific publications.

Léo Barret

Marine Biologist and Environmental Consultant

MSc Oceanography, Université du Québec à Rimouski

Léo has more than 10 years’ experience in oceanography, coral reef and seagrass ecology, and marine spatial planning in Canada and the Western Indian Ocean. He co-authored Status and Trend of Seychelles Coral Reefs: 2026, led the design of the OCEAN’S RESOLVE programme for the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, and developed national seagrass monitoring and restoration protocols. He specialises in GIS-based ecological assessment, coral reef restoration and photogrammetry-based monitoring. PADI Rescue Diver (700+ dives).
